Steven Longan

Steve Longan is a research, development, and communication professional with an extensive background in studying how organizations and groups do their work: communicating, making decisions, changing, using technology and growing. He believes in listening and observing so that he can understand the organization on its own terms, with the goal of helping organizations orient themselves around concepts and practices that will strengthen their culture, empower their people, and turn their vision into reality. Steve combines his vast experience with organizational communication and his passion for helping others to help design, develop, and present Rewire’s program offerings.

Steve’s strength is in his commitment to staying at the forefront of research and theory regarding organizational development, communication and positive psychology, and in his ability to see connections between organizational dynamics, staff, and actions. Both of which enable Rewire to offer clients the best of what’s available for both individual and team growth.

Steve has a B.S. in Communication Studies from Multnomah University, a post-graduate Certificate in Organizational Communication Management from the University of Portland, and a Master’s in Theology from Multnomah University. He has over 7,500 hours of organizational observation and analysis, and another 5,000+ hours of teaching/instruction. He has spoken at over 200 events and planned and developed over 400 more. Steve is certified in DiSC behavioral analysis and training, and is a member of the National Communication Association.

Steve lives in Oregon with his wife and two sons. When not at Rewire, he spends his time playing three instruments (drums, guitar and piano…though not usually all at once), taking classes to stay sharp (on a variety of subjects), and coaching his son’s soccer team (because managing ten 10-year-olds helps him to not take himself too seriously). And through it all, he is constantly on a quest to make the perfect espresso. Some days he succeeds.
